Fluematic Limited
After leaving Leisure Card in 1992 joined the team at Fluematic Limited. Fluematic designed, manufactured and installed stainless steel industrial flue systems (chimneys). People I remember include Colin (aka "s'gone" owing to his constantly pessimistic outlook for the company), various Johns (including 'Fat Bloke'), Conrad, Mick, Mark and Geraldine.
My job was basically handling anything to do with their computer system, entering accounts, writing letters, designing and producing promotional literature etc and early on it was great fun. Unfortunately the latter days here were far from fun and I ended up being constructively dismissed, a problem I attribute to the company's bent accountant who shall remain nameless. Water under the bridge!
My work with bands had lead me to a company called Stagecraft Systems, a supplier of band gear and PA equipment and as I was leaving Fluematic it was fortunate for me that Stagecraft were looking for an engineer. A position I gladly accepted as it meant doing what I knew and loved in more ways than one. I joined Stagecraft in April 1996. I'm still there as it happens, we install sound and lighting and AV equipment into schools, clubs, offices and anywhere else that wants it!
